President
Andy Berdy served as an infantry officer in the United States Army for 30 years, with tours of duty that included postings all over the United States and overseas.
Highlights in his career included commanding a battalion in the 101st Airborne Division during Desert Storm; command of a light infantry brigade task force in the 10th Mountain Division, which included operations to secure the country of Haiti in 1994, as well as key staff positions for senior Army and Joint Staff principals during multiple tours at the Pentagon.
His last assignment was the senior special assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from which he retired in 2000.
Upon retirement, he was hired by Enron Energy Services and assumed position of Vice President for Operations in the construction management division of the company.
He was hired by Allied Defense Group in March 2002 to assume the position of Chief Operating Officer for one of their newly acquired subsidiaries, NSM Surveillance. In June 2003 he was promoted to the position of President of NSM Surveillance.
Chief Operating Officer
Carlos Arnero received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and has served in the company for more than eight years. His roles have spanned the areas including Executive Management, Program/Project Management, Information Technology (IT), The National Industrial Security Program (NISP), and Business Operations. Carlos’ primary responsibility is managing the day to day activities of the company’s major operating arms to include engineering, systems integration, production, and finance/administration. Director of Finance & Administration
Carl A. Thompson serves as the Director of Finance for NSM Surveillance, Inc. (NSM). He entered this position in October 2007 after transferring from the parent company to NSM, The Allied Defense Group (ADG), where he served as Assistant Controller. Previous to his employment at NSM/ADG, he garnered over 20 years experience with large and small companies, government contractors, and in the public accounting industry.
Carl currently holds a CPA and received a B.S. in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis and a Masters in Taxation from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.
Director of Science and Technology
Bill Guetz received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and has served in the industry for over 35 years. He has a patent for a network-adaptive video compression technique.

Director of Engineering
John Puetz joined NSM Surveillance in early 2011 as Director of Engineering. He has over 25 years of experience within the San Diego wireless communications industry in engineering design, management and business experience. Prior to NSM Surveillance, Mr. Puetz founded MasterWorks Communications, a specialized consulting firm providing technical engineering and business development services in the satellite communications, telecommunications, energy services, government services and disaster recovery industries. He served as principle consultant for over 11 years, with an international clientele of Wall Street firms, communications service providers, ISPs, equipment manufacturers, and Fortune 500 companies. MasterWorks completed over 90 business and technical projects concerning business & market plan development, product strategy assessment, planning, and evaluations, market research & assessment, technology assessment & due diligence, network engineering, and system design and analysis.
Mr. Puetz has authored numerous papers and has spoken to conference audiences around the world on a variety of wireless communications topics including broadband and bandwidth-on-demand VSATs, broadband wide area networking, IP multicasting, CDNs, disaster recovery, return channel technologies, and comparative communication system architectures.
Prior to forming MasterWorks Communications in 1999, Mr. Puetz was director of business development at ViaSat, Inc where he was instrumental in transitioning their government-focused satcom technology into a commercial system offering, thereby launching their commercial satellite networks division. He also played a key role in the formation of the Global VSAT Forum in 1997. Before joining ViaSat in 1994, Mr. Puetz worked in various product management, business development, and engineering management and design roles for San Diego based ComStream Inc. and M/A-COM Linkabit from 1983 through 1989.
Mr. Puetz is a six year veteran of the United States Navy, specializing in electronic warfare and holds a BSEE degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
Director of Sales and Marketing
Steve Trunkett joined the NSM Surveillance management team in August, 2011 after more than 20 years of driving revenue in the material handling, communications, and security products industries. Steve is a skillful sales executive who successfully led the sales and marketing efforts of one Fortune 500 corporation, and a privately held manufacturer.

At NSM Surveillance, Steve focuses on developing partnerships with global integrators and manufacturers, initiating new business developments, creating strategies for large-scale opportunities, and determining resource allocations for sales and marketing efforts. He is also building a nation-wide network of sales representatives and independent distributors.
Steve has a BS in Economics from the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California and resides in the San Diego area.
Director of Integrated Systems
Norm Stack’s primary responsibility at NSM Surveillance is directing and managing all systems integration. Norm has been with NSM Surveillance for nearly four years, and serves as a prime example of our proactive role to hire qualified staff to meet our clients’ needs. He has 29 years of experience in product, program and project management as well as marketing and strategic planning.
Norm has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and a M.B.A from San Diego State University with an emphasis in Information Systems. Norm’s recent responsibilities at NSM Surveillance include:
NSM Surveillance Program Manager for the REF and PSDS2 Programs – Principal responsibilities included management of development and production programs for surveillance equipment and systems. This role included responsibility for technical performance, schedule, budget, coordination of proposal responses, and support to business development.
Director of Production Operations
Johnny Nguyen’s primary responsibility at NSM Surveillance is directing and managing all production operations. Johnny has been with NSM Surveillance for more than 15 years, first as an assembler, then as a field service technician, planner, and as production planning & control supervisor. Johnny is responsible for all manufacturing activities of NSM Surveillance as well as the management of production personnel.
Johnny is another example of our proactive role to promote qualified staff to meet our clients’ needs.
Johnny has a BS Criminal Justice Administration from San Diego State University (SDSU), and a Operations Resource Management (ORM) Certificate from California State University at San Marcos (CSUSM). He is currently working toward a certification in Production & Inventory Control (CPIM) Certification.
